The longer Indiana State Fair drew a record crowd of nearly 1 million visitors, although its daily average was far short of previous years.Fair officials announced today that 973,902 people came through the gates during the 17-day run that ended yesterday. The Indiana State Fair has set a new attendance record.Fair officials announced this morning that yesterdays attendance of 73,645 pushed the fairs 16-day attendance total to 905,645. That tops the record of 900,365 set in 2004.The attendance record will grow even higher because thousands more fairgoers showed up today for the fairs final day.The final attendance figure for the 2009 fair will be released tomorrow.The years fair was 17 days long, the longest in decades ...
